McGuinness McDermott Foundation

Web

The McGuinness McDermott Foundation is one of South Australia's most high profile charities. We took the challenge of completely redeveloping its flagship website with the project aims being to 1. Enhance the user interface of the website to increase interaction with stakeholders & the community & in the process reduce the organisation's reliance on more expensive forms of communication (such as printed newsletters) 2. Improve the visual appearance of the website to more accurately reflect the professionalism & progressive nature of the organisation within its competitive environment 3. Simplify the maintenance process through the implementation of custom-developed content management functionality to allow for a more efficient use of the organisation's internal resources. The website was rebuilt from a blank page with a clearer navigation & information flow coupled with more structured, bite-sized pages.

This simple, clean structure has been seamlessly tied into custom-developed content management functionality that allows all components of the website to be accessed & managed internally by the organisation. A key design component of the website integrates doodling as a form of broader visual language. This doodling, closely based on children's drawings, is intended to reinforce the child-focused nature of the organisation while providing points of interest to visitors throughout the website. The website incorporates colours outside the organisation's immediate corporate palette (& in contrast to the bright, bright red previous website) to complement the doodles & further modernise its overall visual appearance. The website has been developed in HTML/CSS & PHP & meets worldwide standards for usability & accessibility.
